Penn Successfully Conducts Annual UPennAlert Test

I am happy to report that the annual University of Pennsylvania UPennAlert test today was a success. The drill started off with the Penn Siren Outdoor System (Penn SOS), accompanied by the delivery of 30,608 text messages and 42,565 Emails within minutes.

If you did not receive a text (sms) message and/or email, visit www.publicsafety.upenn.edu/pennready/upennalert.asp for information on registering your cell phone for text (sms) and voice messages, as well as your email.

I want to thank Chief of Fire and Emergency Preparedness Gene Janda, Director of PennComm Communications Mitch Yanak and Director of Operations and External Affairs Stef Cella for leading this project, and collaborating so expertly with our Penn colleagues at Facilities and Real Estate Services and Information Systems and Computing, as well with the City of Philadelphia's Office of Emergency Management.
