Philadelphia Orchesrtra and FOP Join Forces for Fallen Officers

The Philadelphia Orchestra, in partnership with Mayor Michael Nutter, Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey and the Fraternal Order of PoliceLodge 5 (FOP), is organizing a very special, community-wide Police Officer tribute concert on September 20, 2009, at the Mann Center for the Performing Arts in Fairmount Park. Proceeds from this concert will benefit the Fraternal Order of Police Survivor’s Fund. The Fund collects and distributes donations to assist the families of police officers who have died in the line of duty.

The event is open to the public. An “at will donation” (no set ticket price) is requested at the gate. The Philadelphia Orchestra musicians were so moved by the recent rash of police deaths that they wanted to do something to show their support of ALL law enforcement officers, and to specifically honor the officers who gave the ultimate sacrifice – their life. The musicians are donating their services for this concert. Their goal is three-fold: to show their support for all law enforcement officers, AND to replenish the depleted Survivor’s Fund, which supports the needs of families of fallen officers and finally, to unite the citizens of the greater Philadelphia region and law enforcement officers.
