Thank You for Penn's Way

Last Tuesday, January 19th, Penn President Amy Gutmann, Executive Vice President Craig Carnaroli, Senior Vice President Penn Medicine and Faculty Advisor Dr. Peter Quinn, Penn Medicine Senior Vice President and Penn’s Way Co-Chair, Susan Phillips, and I had the wonderful opportunity to personally thank the many Penn’s Way Volunteer Coordinators and Captains who, along with many collaborating Penn departments including, Almanac, Business Services Division, Mail Services, Penn Publications, Computer Connection, Division of Public Safety, Information Systems and Computing (ISC), Payroll, Services, Penn Communications, Penn Human Resources, Penn Medicine Marketing Department and VPUL, were integral in helping to create another successful Penn’s Way Campaign. Each year these individuals provide the backbone of the spirit of giving at Penn and help rally the Penn Community for this important campaign.

Penn’s Way is the University of Pennsylvania’s annual employee workplace giving campaign that runs from October and November. It is a collaborative campaign that allows donors to decide what organizations or charity their money goes to by way of three umbrella organizations: The Center for Responsible Funding, The United Way of South Eastern Pennsylvania, and Penn Medicine.

With the tremendous outpouring of support and from our community, over $1,300,000 was raised this year, once again exceeding our previous years’ total.

Tuesday’s luncheon also gave campaign coordinators and volunteers an opportunity to hear from several of our charitable partner organizations. Speakers included; Executive Director for the Center for Responsible Funding, Carol Boughter; Vice-Dean for Professional Services and Senior Vice President for Penn Medicine, Dr. Peter Quinn; and President and CEO for United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania, Jill Michal.

I commend all those that gave and supported through this campaign and look forward to another great campaign next year!
